I think the key is the content and the sensational packaging of it that Pat refers to that made it happen. If there were a core group of contributors available to to post content (see their own words and video) in print without pay - as a side gig, it could be replaced in the market. I think the tools are available to make it easy and quick. I offer an experiment for consideration. Posterous provides a blogging toolset that makes it as simple as sending an email to a specific address to create a blog post. Nothing inherently unique about that of course, but they also allow you to add attachments (photos, videos, mp3s, other files) to those emails you send to that address. Posterous then formats the attachments in background and posts it on the page without any other interaction. Then anyone can comment on it. I created one called "Montclair Wide Open" just last night. Anyone can post to it by sending an email to post@montclair.posterous.com. You're welcome to try it - from home or from your phone. Then you can see the page here: http://montclair.posterous.com/ I'll post this there now - with a random pic attached. JB
